May, Thursday 22nd

Hi guys!

Only when we get to the end of the year do we remember we´d better rush and see the most important information from the two units remaining in our textbook!!!
Today, we first revised animal vocabulary on the screen, and then began to tackle cleft sentences, noun compounds-possessive forms and so & such.
They all belong to different pages , and we sas everything except the last part.
We first used a sort of GUIDELINE (CLICK & PRINT IT) so as to test the new grammar items previously.
We also listened to exercise 2a (page 93) and then did CLEFT SENTENCES as well as  exercises a & b on page 153. Then, you tried out your "own" cleft sentences by doing exercise 3c (on page 93 again)
And right after that, NOUNS: COMPOUND AND POSSESSIVE FORMS . Having only a few minutes left before the end of the class, we decided to do only exercise a on page 154. And there we left it !

Please, do exercises on photocopies 13 & 14. Don´t forget to do exercise c on page 154 in your books ( ANSWER KEY HERE). You might also want to check your answers for PREPARING FOOD, p. 167 (our last vocabulary bank for which there´s practically no time).

Enjoy your weekend people! See you next week!

May, Tuesday 20th

Hi guys!

Today we first began by checking the natural world: page 166. We also had time to do exercises 4a and 5c (page 90), the second being far more challenging since headphones didn´t work properly.
Toby gave you animal debates for you to debate and play the devil´s advocate. He also suggested using the following common adverb collocations (CLICK HERE TO SEE).
And that was all !

Three more classes ahead! See you all on Thursday!

We ended up by doing the speaking activity shown on page 89 - match the sentences-. That was all!

May, Tuesday 13th

Hi guys!

Yesterday, we began by focusing on homework ( we did it very quicky, though). As promised, HERE you can find the answer key for exercise 1d page 85 (in your textbook). When finished, we moved on to page 86, where we did exercises 5c & 5d. These two activities were the prelude to EXPRESSING FUTURE PLANS & ARRANGEMENTS on page 151. There we just had time to do exercises a and b.
Please do exercise c on the same page and homophones (exercise 4a) on page 86 at home. We´ll be seeing them in our next class.
After seven o´clock, Toby´s time and his travel roleplays (CLICK HERE FOR VOCABULARY). An activity for you to complain & apologize and give alternatives and / or solutions. It was fun, wasn´t it?
As usual, there are still copies of this activity available in the classroom.

See you tomorrow, guys!

May, Thursday 8th

Hi there!
Now that´s what I call extreme commuting!

Today we first checked exercise b on page 150 but before, as we usually do, we tested our knowledge on gerunds & infinitives with an interactive  activity. Then, we skipped some pages and worked on pages 80-81 in order to learn what to show in a report . Please, don´t forget to write your report for Thursday next week the latest. We continued with Travel & tourism on page 165, and briefly saw some more vocabulary (AMERICAN & BRITISH VOCABULARY ).Then, we continued skipping pages and "landed" on page 85, where we did the questionnaire in 2c. Then, we moved on  and did exercise b (page 86) and read "Extreme commuting - would you do it?" That was all then, folks!
Please, remember to do exercise 1c on page 84 in your textbooks (read my 25,000 wonders of the world ) and the revise & check section on page 83 (also in your books).Check your answersHERE

Enjoy your weekend, guys!

Hi people!

Yesterday´s class was devoted to gerunds & infinitives ( the last thing to see before finishing unit 5C). We first had a breaking-the-ice activity to test our knowledge on the topic. Then we saw exercise 3a (see ANSWER KEY) and 3b on page 77, and from there we learned everything about THE GERUNDS & THE INFINITIVES (page 150). Once done with it, we did exercise a. Please do exercise b (same page 150) for Thursday.
Do also work in your workbook, page 51 exercise 4A.

Then Toby´s card & speaking game. It was fun, wasn´t it?  and he got you all speaking in the end!
These were the sentences:
Can you remember – meeting Toby in this class for the first time?
Do you mind – being kept waiting for long?
Do you regret – giving up an old hobby / pastime?
Would you have liked – to live and work in a different city?
Are you good at – giving compliments to other people?
Do you ever dream about – being someone famous?
Can you afford – to go on holidays this summer?
Is it difficult for you – to say no to friends or family very  often?

See you all on Thursday!
